PSAT Results Returned

On Friday, January 17, all sophomores received detailed reports from the PSAT they took in October. Students were shown how to read the results, understand correct and incorrect answers, and how to create an account on the College Board website, where they can find study materials for the SAT.  

Maya McCauley Wins Horatio Alger Scholarship

Maya McCauley has been selected as one of 106 National Horatio Alger Scholarship recipients. This National Scholarship is awarded to eligible students in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico who have overcome great obstacles in their young lives. Maya will be awarded a $25,000 scholarship and an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. in April where she will be recognized with the other national winners at the National Scholars Conference.

Kevin Swaggerty Receives Quest Bridge Scholarship

GLHS senior Kevin Swaggerty was awarded a highly competitive scholarship to Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Out of almost 15,000 national applicants, Kevin was one of about 1100 students who received the Quest Bridge Scholarship. This is a national scholarship program that matches high-achieving seniors with full four-year scholarships to some of the nation’s top colleges. Kevin’s scholarship to Washington University covers the full cost of attendance: tuition, room, board, books, supplies, and travel expenses for four years. In this case, the scholarship is worth approximately $300,000. 

Quest Bridge scholars have an average of a 3.93 GPA and a 30-33 on the ACT.  Ninety-three percent are in the top 10% of their classes.
