Winners of Six Consecutive Region 6-A Championships

2008 season updates

Oct 25 Gordon Lee finished as state runners-up for the third consecutive year, falling in the championship round of the state tournament to Eagle's Landing Christian. GLHS suffered a 2-1 eight-inning loss in game one of the finals before losing 3-0 in the deciding game. The Lady Trojans ended the season with a record of 33-7.

Oct 24 The Lady Trojans advanced to the finals of the state tournament by defeating Eagle's Landing Christian 2-0. Holli Brooks drove in both runs with a two-out fifth-inning single. Jonia Taylor allowed four hits and struck out seven in the shutout.

Oct 23 Gordon Lee won its first game in the State Finals tournament, beating Bacon County 2-0. Jonia Taylor got the win, striking out 10 while going 2-for-3 at the plate. The Lady Trojans then beat Wesleyan 5-4 in eight innings to advance to the winner's bracket finals. Shauna Gallahar and Lesslie Bohannon each went 2-for-4. Jordan Bohannon added a two-run homer.

Oct 18 The Lady Trojans advanced to the Elite Eight with a 17-0 rout of Pace Academy. Shauna Gallahar and Lesslie Bohannon each had two hits and three RBIs, Molly Rodgers had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, and Chelsea Tarvin added two hits and scored three times. Jonia Taylor allowed just one hit in the win.

Oct 17 Gordon Lee picked up a pair of victories in the State Sectional tournament, blanking Walker 11-0 then knocking off Wesleyan 6-2. In the opener Brenna Nation pitched a perfect game, striking out 14 of the 15 batters she faced. Molly Rodgers was 2-for-2 with three RBIs to lead the Lady Trojans' offense. Jonia Taylor struck out eight while going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs in the second game.

Oct 9 The Lady Trojans won their sixth straight Region 6-A championship by beating Trion 7-2. Gordon Lee scored four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run homer by Shauna Gallahar, then tallied twice more in the third and once in the sixth. Gallahar was 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Lesslie Bohannon added two hits and drove in a run. Jonia Taylor did not allow a baserunner through the first six innings and finished the game with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Oct 7 Gordon Lee advanced to the Region 6-A tournament championship game with a 3-0 victory over Trion. Jonia Taylor pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts to get the win. Molly Rodgers was 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, and two RBIs. Lesslie Bohannon also drove in a run for GLHS.

Oct 6 The Lady Trojans beat Bowdon 3-0 to advance to the winner's bracket finals of the Region 6-A tournament. Shauna Gallahar was 3-for-3 while Anna Quinn and Lesslie Bohannon had RBI triples. Chelsea Tarvin drove in Gordon Lee's other run. Jonia Taylor got the win, striking out nine.

Oct 2 Gordon Lee scored single runs in each of the first four innings, then added two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth for an 8-0 win over Excel Christian. Molly Rodgers was 3-for-4 while Lesslie Bohannon, Lacy Perry, and Holli Brooks had two hits each. Jonia Taylor struck out five in pitching the shutout. GLHS finished the regular season a perfect 12-0 in Region 6-A games.

Sep 27 The Lady Trojans clinched the top seed in the upcoming Region 6-A tournament with a 2-0 win over Bowdon. Jonia Taylor allowed only four hits, struck out nine, and walked none. Taylor and Molly Rodgers drove in Gordon Lee's runs.

Sep 25 Gordon Lee pounded out 12 hits in a 10-0 five-inning win over Mt. Zion. Molly Rodgers and Lesslie Bohannon were each 3-for-3 while Chelsea Tarvin was 2-for-2. Rodgers and Anna Quinn homered for the Lady Trojans. Jonia Taylor and Brenna Nation combined for 10 strikeouts.

Sep 24 The JV team defeated Northwest Whitfield 4-0.

Sep 23 Molly Rodgers and Shauna Gallahar hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning to spark the Lady Trojans to a 7-1 victory over Trion. Chelsea Tarvin had three hits for the game, while Gallahar and Holli Brooks were both 2-for-3. Jonia Taylor allowed four hits and struck out nine in the win.

Sep 20 Gordon Lee picked up three more wins in the SCORE International Invitational. The Lady Trojans opened the day with a 10-0 thumping of Kell. Jonia Taylor allowed only one hit and struck out seven in five innings. Anna Quinn and Molly Rodgers each had two hits, while Jordan Bohannon added a double and two RBIs. GLHS followed up with a 5-0 shutout of Blessed Trinity. Shauna Gallahar was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a RBI. Rodgers was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Brenna Nation got the win, striking out 10. The final game saw Gordon Lee defeat Cass 3-1. Taylor allowed no hits and struck out five in five innings.

Sep 19 The Lady Trojans won two games in the SCORE International Invitational. GLHS beat Allatoona 1-0 behind the four-hit pitching of Jonia Taylor, who struck out nine. Molly Rodgers drove in the game's only run with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly. In the second game, Brenna Nation allowed only four hits and struck out eight as the Lady Trojans defeated Carrollton 7-1. Anna Quinn was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Rodgers also had two hits.

Sep 18 Gordon Lee shut out Darlington 9-0 as Jonia Taylor and Brenna Nation combined to strike out 14 Lady Tigers in six innings. Lesslie Bohannon was 2-for-2 for GLHS while Holli Brooks had three RBIs.

Sep 17 The JV team beat LaFayette 3-1.

Sep 16 The Lady Trojans scored six runs in the fifth inning of a 7-2 win over Bremen. Jonia Taylor had two doubles and an RBI as part of a 3-for-4 day. Holli Brooks was 2-for-3. Chelsea Tarvin, Molly Rodgers, Kelsie Bickett, and Lesslie Bohannon each had one RBI.

Sep 11 Gordon Lee rallied for a 4-3 eight-inning win over Excel Christian to improve its record in Region 6-A games to 6-0. Kelsie Bickett went 3-for-4 for the Lady Trojans while Chelsea Tarvin had two hits and knocked in pair of runs. Jonia Taylor struck out 12 in getting the win.

Sep 10 The Lady Trojans scored 11 times in the third inning en route to a 12-0 victory over Darlington. Anna Quinn and Shauna Gallahar each had two hits for GLHS. Jonia Taylor notched 10 strikeouts in four innings of work.

Sep 8 The JV team beat Northwest Whitfield 11-0.

Sep 6 Gordon Lee won the 16-team Cherokee Invitational by posting five straight victories on the tournament's final day. The Lady Trojans beat Dade County 11-1 in their last game of pool play, then knocked off Hillgrove 4-3, Ridgeland 6-1, and Ringgold 5-4 in bracket play to advance to the finals. GLHS got a game-winning RBI from Shauna Gallahar in the eighth inning to defeat top-ranked Eagle's Landing Christian 3-2 for the championship. Brenna Nation struck out seven against ELCA to get the win.

Sep 5 The Lady Trojans split a pair of games on the opening day of the Cherokee Invitational. GLHS opened with a 4-0 loss to Sequoyah, ranked ninth in Class AAAA, but bounced back to defeat Treutlen 10-2.

Sep 4 Jonia Taylor pitched her second consecutive no-hitter in Gordon Lee's five-inning 8-0 win over Mt. Zion. Shauna Gallahar was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Lacy Perry was also 2-for-3 for GLHS.

Sep 2 Jonia Taylor threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts as the Lady Trojans shut out Trion 2-0. Trion's only runner of the game reached on an error. Shauna Gallahar had an RBI for GLHS while Lesslie Bohannon and Holli Brooks collected extra-base hits.

Aug 30 Gordon Lee won its second straight Region 6-A game, beating Bowdon 2-0. Shauna Gallahar and Molly Rodgers each had two hits and an RBI. Jonia Taylor pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Aug 28 The Lady Trojans opened region play with a 4-0 win over Bremen. Jonia Taylor struck out six in the win. Shauna Gallahar had two RBIs.

Aug 23 Gordon Lee suffered another one-run loss in the LFO Invitational, falling to Ridgeland 3-2. GLHS bounced back with a 9-1 pounding of Central-Carroll, Class AAA's third-ranked team. The Lady Trojans finished the tournament by losing 3-0 to LFO, the second-ranked team in AAA.

Aug 22 The Lady Trojans lost a pair of games on the first day of the LFO Invitational. Gordon Lee fell 2-0 to Marist, the top-ranked team in Class AAAA, then dropped a 4-3 decision to Eastside, ranked ninth in Class AAA.
