    BIO:
Janet Landers is a lifelong resident of the Chickamauga City School District and has been privileged to serve on the Board of Education since 2004. She is a proud graduate of Gordon Lee High School and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in administration. During and after graduating from college, she worked in the private sector before working for the State of Georgia and retiring from the U. S. Courts for the Eastern District of Tennessee. Janet relates that her decision to become a board member was centered around her desire for all children to receive a quality education and that the district be fairly represented. She was reared in a household with humble beginnings that encouraged education as a means for future success. She relates that the Chickamauga City School District provided the educational foundation that allowed her to be successful in completing her post-secondary education and maintaining a career in service. She wanted to ensure that all children received the same quality education. Additionally, at the time of her appointment, she became the only female serving on the board, and more recently, the first female Vice Chair.

Since her retirement, her focus and time has remained on service to her church and her community through participation in a children’s outreach ministry, the Chickamauga Library, and various other areas through Elizabeth Lee Methodist Church and the school system.
