Georgia's Safe School Act

Dear Parents and Families

Georgia’s Safe Schools Act (HB 147) requires every public school to conduct an intruder alert drill before October 1st for staff and students based upon guidance from the GA. Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency. Chickamauga City Schools will conduct an unannounced drill during the month of September. In addition, two or three unannounced drills will occur throughout the school year.

We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for staff and students. We understand these drills can be disruptive and upsetting, but they are an important part in helping us prepare and protect our students so they are safe at school. Thank you for your support and understanding. Parents and guardians who would like to opt their child out of participation in the drills may do so by contacting their child’s school principal.
